"Kidney Stone Removal"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I was in for a kidney stone removal via a ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy. I was meant to be in and out in the same day but due to pain and a slow recovery from the general anaesthetic I had to stay in overnight.

I cannot speak highly enough of all the nursing staff who looked after me, they were all excellent. Despite missing dinner due to feeling unwell the staff did everything they possibly could to find me food and were very attentive throughout the day and night. There was no pressure to leave and staff were happy for me to stay as long as was necessary for me to feel well enough to go home. Many thanks to everyone for looking after me.

Dear Stephen90

Thank you for taking the time to post on care opinion, we value and welcome all feedback. I am sorry to hear that you didn't get out of hospital after your procedure and you experienced some pain. However, I am pleased that you were able to go home the next day and did not feel rushed or pressured to go home and had the time to recover.

I am glad you felt well cared for by attentive staff and that they manged to get you something to eat when you felt better.

I hope you are covering well and I will ensure your post is shared with the necessary team. Take care, Siobhan McIlroy, Clinical Nurse Manager.
