"Literally banging my head against a brick wall"

My experience is regarding the Orthotics Department at Monklands Hospital NHS Lanarkshire. I am an alopecia sufferer and have been waiting since March 2021 to receive a real hair wig from the NHS. I can never get through to the orthotics service at Monklands hospital their phone number is always engaged and I am convinced they take it off the hook so they don't need to answer phone calls. I desperately need this hair now and I have been given no help or advice as to when I will get it.

They keep blaming a supplier issue, but I know you could go onto a website and buy a new wig and have it delivered between 6-8 weeks. My friend even got a customised hair wig from America made from scratch within 6 months feel its a joke. I wonder how many patients are affected by this and are being overlooked.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on Care Opinion, In regard to your experience with the Orthotics Department at University Hospital Monklands. The Orthotics department have supplied the following response, inviting you to contact them directly.

Sorry for the frustration you have experienced in trying to contact the Orthotic Department within University Hospital Monklands. The contact number for the department had changed in line with the improvements to the telecommunication systems, which resulted in the old number becoming obsolete. There was a message in place for 6 months redirecting callers to the new number.
