About: Maternity care / 2 East Midwifery Led Unit (MLU) Maternity care / 2 West Maternity

(as a service user),

I gave birth to my little girl in the MLU (Midwifery Led Unit) at Craigavon Area Hospital and my care was amazing.

I had a traumatic experience with haemorrhaging immediately after she was born and received medical attention immediately and they took great care in looking after me. I received 3 blood transfusions and the midwives in recovery and 2 West were incredible in helping myself and my husband to look after our new baby.

Special thanks to midwives Victoria and Mavis and maternity assistant Vicky and also to the midwife who helped my husband care for our baby while I was in theatre. Unfortunately I can’t remember her name but she was incredibly helpful.

The ward was very busy but everyone took great care in making sure all patients were looked after.

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your baby girl, your complimentary feedback will be shared with all of the team.

From reading your story I can only imagine how stressful and worrying your experience was following the birth of your baby. I am pleased to read that you felt confident and reassured by the team that were providing the care in what was a emergency situation. It is lovely to read that both you and your husband felt well supported when caring for your baby.

Once again congratulation on the birth of your baby and all the very best for the future for you and your family.
