"Getting COVID treatment"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Ramone ward 1

(as the patient),

Almost two weeks ago I and my family all got Covid. However I am "clinically extremely vulnerable", and it was very worrying due to the many illness and complications I have, breast cancer, intestinal failure, on a peg feed 24/7, Crohn's, no spleen, refractory coeliac disease. I became ill very quickly. Firstly having reported my positive result on the  NI direct Gov NHS website I received a phonecall from a Doctor from Craigavon Covid Treatment Team. He was absolutely brilliant, discussing my daughter's positive result (she has asthma and is vulnerable) and focusing on getting me to Hospital for Urgent Coronavirus Treatment.

This treatment was lifesaving for me and I was very scared. When I arrived at the Covid treatment unit I was met by the team there Eddie and Sister Ashlene who were so amazing, caring and friendly. The way I was treated was just fantastic! Honestly Eddie and his colleague were so brillant they had me so relaxed, calm;  made me so comfortable. From being really worried I was laughing, they were so professional, got the Covid infusion treatment in safely with no problems and made sure I was safe, feeling ok . Eddie actually is the most caring  and knowledged Nurse I've ever known. I can only Thank you Eddie and Ashlene for the most wonderful, dedicated care I received. Not only that but Eddie was so concerned about my general health, I was very poorly he made a few phone calls to make sure I get urgent medical attention from other departments. He was genuinely so concerned for me; went above and beyond to help me and make sure I was safe and looked after in the coming weeks. He didn't have to do all that! He checked on me also after returning home.

This Covid Treatment unit for clinically vulnerable is superb; stops you becoming critical etc. and potentially dying from Covid. So brilliantly run with the nicest, kindest, staff. Eddie you are one in a million and very funny!  Along with Ashlene. What amazing people/staff! Brilliant treatment and a fantastic Covid unit, so vital..

Treatment has worked,  thank you,  still recovering at home doing ok. Thankyou so much to Staff  Eddie, Ashlene and Doctor McKenna who phoned me to arrange the covid treatment. Fantastic, Amazing Care! So grateful.
