"Ambulance and A+E NHS Tayside"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Accident & Emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a carer),

I just wanted to thank the ambulance team (Nick and partner) and A+E staff at Ninewells for the care they provided to my elderly mum and dad early on Saturday morning  Mid May, after a very frightening experience.

They were excellent and I am so grateful as I live a distance away. Nick and partner were fantastic with my mum (patient) and dad who is 91. They are still living independently but needed help on Saturday which was delivered with great efficiency and compassion from the Scottish Ambulance Service talking dad through what to do while waiting on the ambulance crew, the ambulance crew who went above and beyond and the A+E team who kept us updated and I was able to pick mum up later that day.

Mum has early Alzheimer’s so can be frightened among strangers but she was so well looked after and comfortable when I collected her. I am well aware of the pressures these teams are under and just wanted to thank them for mums care which could not have been better. Apologies I don’t have any other names of staff but hopefully they will know who they are and their care was very appreciated I can’t thank them enough.

Dear CarB36,

Thankyou for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read that your mother required the use of our services and that of the wider NHS. I hope that she is feeling better now.

It must be frightening to hear that your mother has been taken into hospital when you are a distance away and it is so nice to read that the teams stepped up and provided the person-centered care that is even more important in cases where a patient has Alzheimer's. If you would like, we can try and locate the crew and pass on your wonderful words to them and their manager so they know they did a good job and it is appreciated.. In order to do this I would just require some details, your mothers name and the date/rough time and location that we attended her if you have it. That way we can find the job and the crew. If you would like for this to happen could you email sas.feedback@nhs.scot and the team will facilitate this for you. If you would also be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that they can link your email to this story that would be extremely helpful.

Either way thanks again and I wish you and your parents all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear CarB36

Thank you so much for contacting our Patient Experience Team with more detail.

It is always lovely to receive positive feedback and I have arranged for your kind words to be passed on to the crew who attended your mother.

Once, again, many thanks.

David
