"disgusting!!"

About: Queen's Hospital, Burton Upon Trent

Anything else?

Took my 6 year old into a&e with a deep head wound at 8.30pm, he had cut his head on a concrete post an hour before and the wound would not stop bleeding. It took 2 hours to see a triage nurse who struggled to speak fluent english, didn't tell me what was going on, and hurt my son "cleaning the wound". After 3 hours of waiting to see a doctor I went to find out what was going on and was told by a doctor my son wasn't that important as it was only a scalp wound, a swollen foot was classed as worse and we hadn't been waiting long enough. I said my child had hit his head on a concrete post and it won't stop bleeding and was told "oh well". I'm taking my child to the local gp who is a lot better, the a&e dept used to be about putting children 1st, not drunks and drug addicts. Ashamed to call burton queens my local hospital. No point in making a formal complaint to "pals" as nothing is ever done. You night shift a&e staff should be ashamed of yourselves!

'I am sorry for the experience you had last week in the Emergency Department. I will ensure that your views are fed back to the team. It is our aim to treat all patients with respect and dignity whilst at the same time ensuring we provide an excellent quality of care. I am sorry that we appear to have not done so on this occasion.'

Thanks
