I attended ED at University Hospital Wishaw on Saturday morning and was quite unwell. The department was full and there was a long waiting time for most patients.
I was noted by staff to be unwell and they immediately brought me in for appropriate and urgent treatment.
I can’t thank them enough. I knew I was unwell but didn’t think I would get so bad so quickly (and didn’t want to make a fuss) so might have understated my problem -lesson learned! I felt safe and relieved when they scooped me into a room and started treatment.
I have to say a special thanks to consultant Dr McCall - she was amazing. She recognised what was needed and treated me immediately, coordinated my plan of care perfectly, listening to me as a patient and using her knowledge. And she had an IV cannula in my arm a nanosecond after I got onto the bed.
Honorary mentions to Staff Nurses Vicky and Erin for monitoring me and keeping me informed and cheering me up. And to Staff Nurse Michelle for missing her break on a busy shift to take care of me.
You all do a tough job and you don’t get enough thanks. So thanks 😊
"Thank you to ED staff"
