To find oneself being investigated for a possible stroke, or worse, is a difficult experience. I was dreading it the night before. The stroke nurse who greeted me was a star. But my deep thanks go to the consultant and his senior registrar for the gentleness and patience with which they drew out my history and helped me to name symptoms and talk honestly about experiences I didn't want to own up to or face. At the end of tests and discussions, I was lucky enough for my worst fears to be allayed, while knowing that I had been heard, understood and my stroke-like experiences had been thoroughly investigated. Thank you everyone in the Stroke Clinic. I am awed at how human these doctors remained in the midst of chaos. My comments relate specifically to the Stroke Clinic.
