Myself and my family moved from Leatherhead to Dorking last August 2021. We registered at Medwyn Surgery purely as it’s our closest practice and the fact there is a pharmacy that has longer opening hours that suit our working hours. I know being typically British our nation is always quick to be negative and complain at the most slightest of things!! Me getting in touch today, is totally the opposite and would like to compliment your practice and all of your staff from reception, nurses, the pharmacy team and of course the doctors themselves that ‘serve’ us, the public with a great service for when we are poorly.
I have three children, my eldest is Type One diagnosed August 2020 (misdiagnosed from previous GP!) and our middle child who is constantly battling with tummy pains and is currently under St Heliers for further tests. I love that my requests for an appointment are dealt with within 2 hours and generally get to see a doctor on the same day and at a time that suits us. We all lead busy lives and for me not having to chase or wait on the phone to get an answer from reception is great. Prescriptions have been a big battle in Leatherhead when we lived there - miscommunications between choosen pharmacy and GP were just awful but didn’t quite realise how awful till we moved and joined Medwyn, just trying to get insulin for my T1 daughter on a bi-monthly basis was just the hardest thing imaginable. From day one, at Medwyn Surgery, I have felt less stressed which seems silly to think this way I know but it’s the little things like getting text messages, knowing when prescriptions are ready, quick telephone conversation (like this evening checking a prescription/dosage for my daughter), the communication between myself, the Epsom Diabetic Team (especially Lorriane our Diabetic Nurse) and GP are on point.
I was delighted to pick up the new glucogen pen for my daughter on Friday to be able to take this away with her on her Duke of Edinburgh trip next month. This could easily have been turned down, as we still have the old version. It is really reassuring for her and us as parents knowing that this can be given with ease if we are not there. I’m hoping that we will never get to use it mind you.
I think it’s important to stop and praise a service that seems to have got it right, so Thank You Medwyn.
Kind regards,
Natalie Macpherson
"Brilliant GP practice!!"
