"Highgate Centre bad experience, didnt feel safe."

About: Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

I have been sectioned at Highgate Centre now 3 times every time so bad staff I met aggressive except one nurse and another woman who i dont think is qualified but she trys and says sorry to us all the time.

all the other nurses I have seen on this ward seem so cruel, shouting at patients who are unwell. why arent they kind why arent they sitting down talk to women sectioned there why they all so rude?  not all of these really bad nurses are agency there are ones there every time i been admitted. the men staff frighten me.  lots of women and the men who come to restrain for no reason Ican see.  its very very frightening they pin me down on my front pushed on me so hard i couldnt breathe and threw me in my room then injected me and left me.  no nurses checked at all after and i had very bad headache and blury eyes and couldnt breathe.  they did this because i didnt want to take tablet that was new and they refuse to explain why was given and law says they have to explain my cpn says.

why they so nasty to patients when they could talk instead but i dont think they know how to and seem to hate their jobs. they just shout and frighten me and lots of women and they threat us all the time they will restrain and inject instead of talk like we are humans. these are not nurses like at hospitals that arent mental health i never been treated this bad when in other hospitals. there is something very wrong i always think it would be better to be in prison it would be safer and I think the nurses in charge are as bad because they know this it is in front of their eyes and it makes women very ill and it is cruel thing to so .When we are ill patients and they do this we get more ill and i saw lots of times women hurt themselves try kill themselves on this ward and i been there 3 times now and never gets better.

where do they get these nurses from and my cpn read me and showed me other people wrote here say lots same about staff and very frightened patients . my community team say they dont want me to go there anymore but crisis team never comes to me so i have to and am sectioned.

Dear Gmom

We would like to offer you our assurance that our aim is to provide caring services and we expect all our staff to work with compassion. The Trust recognises the experience of restraint can be traumatic and we are working actively to minimise the use of this intervention. When it is required, it is expected that physical health is monitored post restraint, alongside supportive conversation. We also offer a peer led post restraint service to provide a safe space for therapeutic support and follow up and service users report having found this very helpful.

We are very concerned to hear of your poor experience and would encourage you to contact us at Feedback@Candi.nhs.uk so we can investigate.
