"Traumatic Hysteroscopy procedure"

About: Liverpool Womens Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Was in no way prepared for the intense, traumatic pain I would feel during this procedure. Was told it  would  be like period pains, rather than what it was like which was as if someone had a knife cutting away at my insides. Horrific experience and the Doctor just carried on despite my obvious pain and  discomfort. The nurse gave me gas and air and after a while this took the edge off the pain but I felt absolutely brutalised by the experience. The lady who was treated after me felt exactly the same. If the pain I was going to feel had been explained I would have asked to go to sleep. Neither the Dr I saw a few weeks ago or yesterday warned me of the pain. Felt like neither of them had the time or inclination to explain things properly.   Have seen  studies since that 25% of women experience severe, traumatising pain.  I wish I had researched more before going but foolishly assumed I would had been made fully aware by the Doctors.

On the plus side the nursing staff were lovely.
