"Switchboard issues "

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

My 94 year old Mum was admitted to A&E and I wanted to ring this morning to find out how she was since leaving her the night before.

I have tried multiple times to contact the hospital on the main number , 01616240420, and it rings out a few times and then cuts off.

What sort of service when your only point of contact is not working? Not good enough

Dear Alexis

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, I have passed this to the team who have responded to your comments below:

"Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Patient and visitor feedback is always appreciated but in this case especially so. Our switchboard system at Oldham is now some years old and we are in the process of upgrading to a new one. As connections to our site have developed, our system has had to be adapted to enable it to link up. Your feedback is similar to one or two other instances of feedback and has alerted us to a problem between the old and new technology. We have some telecoms engineers looking further into this and hope to be able to resolve the problem.

By the end of June, we should have our new system in place. This communicates directly with the way that calls are received to the site and should resolve any such issues permanently.

Thank you once again for letting us know about your experience."

Kind regards

The Patient Experience Team
