"Very understanding and reassuring nurses"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital / General medicine

(as a service user),

I would like to thank all the nurses who work in the Phlebotomy clinic.  I have to have blood tests quite often, which I am not good with at all.  On top of that the nurses often struggle to draw enough blood (often needing more than one attempt).  Overall the nurses are very understanding and reassuring and make sure I don't see the needles or blood and also try to help me to calm down.   Most also make sure I am OK to get up and walk out of the room afterwards (I have passed out after blood tests before).  The clinic is busy and they have a lot of patients to get through so I appreciate even more the care they show towards their patients.

Thank you very much for the time you have taken to tell us about your recent experience in our Phlebotomy Clinic, I am so pleased that the staff ensure you are supported well to have your blood taken - before, during and after. As a regular patient you will understand how busy the area can become but it is important that we support everyone as an individual so that they can get the most from their time with us. I will be sharing your feedback with colleagues in the team so that they know how much their care has been appreciated.

Kind regards
