I have just tried to complete an E consult, which is something that the staff mentioned is handy rather than try and get through on the phone. It says you can only complete the form between 7am & 1pm. Whose bright idea was it to put a time limit on it? I thought the idea of econsult was the flexibility of completing a form, for non urgent matters, that can be reviewed and answered by email. I was under the impression it was something to help working people and take the pressure from the staff answering the phones. Your econsult service is available less time than your phone lines and it’s only available during working hours of your patients. My job doesn’t allow me to sit on the phone for over an hour to try and get through to speak to someone, nor does it allow me to start filling forms online when I should be working either. Surely the sensible thing would be to have econsult available 24/7 and the forms to be traiged and answered accordingly. I have just tried a few random GP surgery sites in Middlesbrough & other parts of the U.K. and most of these have econsult available with no time restriction. Please have a look at this and do the logical thing.
"E-Consult - what’s the point!"
