Hello,
I had bad accident at the start of the year. I fell down a few steps and broke by leg and dislocated my knees. I needed surgery on my leg (tibial nail). I have been doing weekly PT with my PT, Shannon, at Belfast RVH since the end of January 2022.
To say Shannon has been fantastic is an understatement.
The accident was not only very traumatic, but it also disrupted my life in a major way - I had to postpone my wedding, my house and take a couple of months off work. Shannon has understood, so acutely, both the mental and physical support that is required to a patient, in recovery. I do not know what I would have done without her.
Shannon has designed a program that is challenging and supportive. I have a historical issue with my knees. Shannon has made sure that my recovery was tailored to accommodate this. She made sure I got a review with a knee surgeon and gives me the confidence I need to progress with the program.
A lot of people fear PT. I was one of those people. I nearly cancelled my first appointment, but I was so glad I didn't. I now look forward to my weekly PT sessions and I feel it really helps me, not only physically, but mentally.
Unfortunately, Shannon told me that she is moving to another hospital at the Start of next month (June 2022). I am so gutted to hear this, as I know several of her other patients are. She is such an asset to the fracture gym, I cannot overstate that.
I know that this may be a decision that nothing can be done about, but I would love if Shannon could remain on in the fracture gym. She is so instrumental in my recovery and so many other of her patients. If anything could be done to accommodate this, it would be so greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
"My Physio has been instrumental in my recovery"
