I would just like to acknowledge the joint effort of the NHS and Royal Oldham Staff for making a difficult experience somewhat more manageable. You have all been amazing and supportive.
From Mr A’s* approachable and professional manner; pleasant staff within the colposcopy clinic in the lead up to planning surgery, through to secretaries and booking staff.
My positive and efficient experience within the pre op department who all helped prepare and put my mind at rest for surgery has also contributed.
On my surgery day I was approached by a kind male who directed me to the lift and allocated ward. This was my first interaction as I walked into hospital and created a positive vibe and good first impression at a time I felt very vulnerable.
Thank you to E* for booking me in the ward and staying professional and composed at such a busy period.
Thanks to the lovely nurse who walked me down to theatre and then introduced me to two approachable nurses who sat and chatted to me and who helped occupy my mind.
I must also thank J* and A* , two outstanding anaesthetists along with their colleague with his great sense of humour who was ‘three for the price of two’….. who may I add was also outstanding! You all made me feel relaxed and relieved my anxieties massively.
Although I cannot recall theatre/recovery I feel I must commend Mr A* and his theatre team for surgery they have successfully completed and to those who monitored me before going back to the ward.
I would also like to thank all the staff on T6 for working very hard on a capacity full ward with limited staff, yet still managed to ensure I was well looked after and in safe hands. There are too many of you to recall but thanks to you all for caring and for your team efforts. Each and everyone of you have contributed to my positive admission and help to achieve a NHS we can all be proud of.
Finally thank you to the fellow patients (aka hyster sisters) I met along the way. We were all able to support and connect with each other and put each other at ease at a time when normally we would have our family and friends to call upon. You brought an amazing sense of warmth and empathy to the ward and I wish you all a speedy recovery.
"An NHS to be proud of "
