"Upsetting visit to A and E"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I was in the area dog sitting for my friend. I have endometriosis and have flare ups often. I attended your A and E department for some pain relief as this was a particularly bad flare up. I was seen by a triage nurse and explained that I am not from the area but simply couldn't get on top of my pain.

They did my observations then spoke to the senior doctor who said I should go home and phone my own GP. By this point I was hysterical with the pain but they said we can only give you cocodamol for discharge. I explained I use this regularly already.

I asked could I be admitted to the gynaecology department for pain relief (this is what usually happens) and they told me no they are too busy for that. The nurse even refused to get the gynaecology doctor to come and see me. This nurse let me leave the A and E department absolutely hysterical and in agony. Having endometriosis is hard enough as people don't understand the condition well, but I feel your triage nurse didn't respond to me and my condition.
