"Disgusting Service in Childrens A&E"

Didn’t just use Barnet A&E like most seem to use it as a GP service!! Went through 111, saw an out of hours GP and was advised to go to A&E as my 8 year old had breathing issues. GP advised notes would be sent to A&E.

Upon arrival a women with tooth ache got more assistance and advice, being told waiting hours and the receptionist giving her advice!! We were booked in with a cough and told to go to childrens A&E, if she had taken the time like she did with toothache woman she’d have seen it wasn’t ‘just a cough’

Childrens A&E was absolutely buzzing with children running around, messing around with the water machine, pouring water all over the floor while idiotic parents just sat in watching. You would have seriously thought you’d stepped into a kids tea party!!

When I approached a nurse about the wait time I was sneered at and just told ‘long’ in response to my query of how long the wait time was as it was 1am and I have another child at home with diabetes who also needs me. I wasn’t expecting a childrens nurse to be so rude.

I tried explaining what the GP had told me and her response was “don’t listen to them, if it’s not urgent you won’t be seen until the morning” my so can’t breathe properly but it’s not urgent??

When I questioned how she would be determined as urgent over the other children running around using A&E as a crèche she just turned away.

I advised I would be taking my son home to be in comfort and was abruptly told I could leave with him. I said I would be back in the morning and she aggressively replied “you can’t take him”

My response was “what difference does it make when you e made it clear you’re not going to see to him until the morning!! 5 hours on a plastic chair or go home get him comfy and some sleep or sit in a noisy A&E/tea party for 5 hours??

I know I made the right choice!!

Your nurse should be ashamed of herself!! We have to treat them with respect but that doesn’t seem to happen the other way round, regardless of your job you should treat people as individuals and not treat us all like the NHS time wasters that I saw last night.

The NHS is clearly an abused service but rather than doing something about it the TAX & NI payer always suffers!!

You should be ashamed!!
