Anything else?
I gave birth to my first child in February 2013 in Macclesfield hospital's Maternity Unit and was very impressed by the standard of care I and my family received. Our midwives were very respectful of our birth plan wishes and we appreciated their kindness during the labour. The midwives were patient and understanding at all times and made our experience as comfortable and easy as they could. We were not pressured into doing anything we did not want to do and I was especially appreciative of the way the midwives guided my pushing and breathing so that when the baby’s head came out I hardly tore at all.
The only negative points that we experienced were that partners were not allowed in the birthing pool with the mother so my partner was unable to support me in the way that I would have liked at this stage. Also the Maternity Unit does not have a portable CTG monitor so I kept having to get out of the pool and get onto the bed so that the baby could be monitored.
After our baby was born and we moved out of the delivery room we found all of the staff to be very friendly, helpful and skilful. The ancillary staff were fantastic, helping us and showing us where everything was that we needed. The midwives and other medical professionals were exceptionally skilful with a wonderful manner. We really couldn’t have asked for a better experience for the birth of our baby!
"Fantastic birth experience"
