"Lack of flexibility"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Imaging (Xrays and Scans)

(as a service user),

We have been waiting since the end of January for a scan appointment. We received the appointment today but we are due to be on holiday on the day we have been give.

I called the scan department to see what I could do about this and was told my only option was to rearrange which would mean going back to the start of the 23 week waiting list.

This is obviously not an option so we will need to prioritise the appointment over the holiday.

I understand waiting lists are long and difficult to coordinate but when juggling work, multiple appointments and family life I would of hoped that when on the odd occasion a clash occurs that can't be resolved at our end there would be some flexibility with the appointment.

Dear Busymum1,

Thank you for posting your experience on Care Opinion.

Thank you for appreciating the pressure that we are under as a service as we recover for the pandemic and I apologise that this has had a negative impact on you and your family.

We would always aim to be flexible where we can however I would be keen to further investigate your concern. As an organisation we are always wanting to learn so if you would like to send on you details to my email Heather.Richardson2@ggc.scot.nhs.uk we will review your concern to see if we can reassure you and resolve the issues.

Heather Richardson
