"Two things that are disappointing"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire Lanarkshire Community Services / GP Out of Hours service

(as a parent/guardian),

Visited out of hours in Hamilton last week around midday due to my daughter having clear signs of urine infection.

Handed in her sample from that morning and collected sample while she was there waiting. Gave it to the triage nurse. Was sent back to the waiting area and then called by the doctor.

Two things that are disappointing.

1-I felt that the doctor doesn't even look at or examine the patient, this is not the first time it happened and happened previously with my gp surgery. I got asked questions, and things got written in the computer. Not once did he examine my daughter or even look at her. She got antibiotics and sample bottles to collect urine sample before she takes the antibiotics and to give it to our gp. Surgery to send off for sensitivity. Which all makes sense but the fact that the doctor doesn't even look at the patient is shocking.

2-when discussing with my surgery ANP nurse what is happening with my daughter and how her sample came out, I found out that there is no record of the urine sample dip from the out of hours. Why is a child with signs of urine infection not having this recorded?

I feel that this means it wasn't done and I feel I wasn't taken seriously and in my mind, all the samples have been just pored down the drain.

Good afternoon I am sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience when your daughter had to visit OOH last weekend.

To allow the OOH service to investigate this further you can log this incident with Patient Affairs where we will provide you with feedback.

I hope your daughter is now recovering well.

Regards, Pamela.
