"Croydon University Hospital Emergency department"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I reached A&E in the early evening with a bad cut on my thumb, and was able to show this to a doctor 3 hours later. After they had glanced at it, I was sent back out to the waiting room for another 6 hours, holding my thumb together while it bled.  I know they are very busy and my injury is not important - but the staff were pretty rude when I tried to ask for an update after waiting for 7 hours. They only remembered I was there after I tried to ask for an update. I waited 7 hours after seeing the doctor, after seeing the way patients who dared to ask an update were snapped at.

The stitches themselves were done all right, but overall a pretty traumatic experience for me. The nurse was alright but the doctor was a very unpleasant individual.
