"The staff are lovely here"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Daisy Paediatric Ward

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

My son and I came into accident and emergency, it was busy and we had a 5 hour wait to be taken to daisy ward. My son got the nebuliser in accident and emergency as they were not happy with his oxygen levels. I knew it was going to be a wait as I could see 7/8 children in front of us.

Daisy ward is great, we love the privacy of the rooms and the en-suite.

The staff are lovely here, they constantly check on my son to make sure he is okay and that he is not too uncomfortable.

We have not had a bad experience, I am just emotional.

The only thing is the bed for parents, the pull out sofa really does not cut it if you are staying for longer than one night.

Hello Shaqq75,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and I can completely understand that this has been a difficult time for you. I am delighted that you have had such a positive experience and the team will be very pleased to hear your lovely comments.

I am sorry to hear that you had a consider wait in ED however, unfortunately, this can be challenging as it is out of staff control for a number of reasons and the nature of the activity within the Emergency Department.

I am sorry that you did not feel comfortable in the pull out bed as the facilities are designed to promote comfortable to both our patients and parents by facilitating overnight stays.

I hope your son has made a good recovery and I wish you both well.

Kind regards,

Jodie
