"Top care at Urgent Care Service"

About: Victoria Hospital / Urgent Care Centre

(as the patient),

I made contact with NHS 24 last night due to severe pain in my back and chest and the care I received was second to none! I was provided with an appointment within the Urgent Care Service and advised to go to the UCS clinic within the Diabetic Centre at the VHK. I was treated by two nurses, one was a staff nurse whom was undertaking Advanced Nurse Practioner training and the other an ANP. I was instantly made feel comfortable by the staff nurse who came to get me from the waiting  area . Both nurses were very caring and friendly and really made me feel at ease.

I had a full and thorough assessment of my health complaint and then had a full explanation of what was actually thought to be the issue with my pain and then a full discussion around appropriate pain relief prior to being supplied with medicine before I left. I felt very cared for and was helped to take pain relief prior to leaving so that I could feel more comfortable quickly. I felt very much that my views were being valued and listened to and was given the opportunity to voice any concerns or opinions and ask any questions that I may have had. I very much felt that I was kept the centre of the appointment by both nurses and was provided with appropriate information around the medication I was given.

I honestly felt that it was the interactions that I had with both nurses that made me feel so much better, just knowing that I had had a thorough assessment had provided me with the reassurance I needed to know that what I had going on was not anything serious, this along with a bit of humour went a long way!  I believe the names of both nurses were Julie  and Alana and I hope that this feedback will make it's way to their manager so that they know that their nursing staff are doing an amazing job.

I cannot thank them enough for the standard of nursing care I was given. It is nurses like Julie and Alana that are the absolute epitome of good nursing care and face of NHS Fife. Thank you so so much for the care I was given!
