"Lack of introductions"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

Attended the QEUH in Glasgow for an outpatient appointment. This is my second visit for Diabetic Eye Screening. Sad to say that on both occasions I had to ask who the staff member was as they did not introduce themselves or have a badge with a name on it.

It is sad because great effort is made by such campaigns as, ‘Hello, my name is…’.
Please be mindful that this means something to the patient, reduces anxiety and is respectful.

Dear G51

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion. I am sorry to read that the staff member did not introduce themselves or have a badge on at your appointment. I have shared your story with the Service Manager responsible for the Retinal Screening Service who have advised that they will remind staff to introduce themselves to patients and to ensure their ID badge is visible at all times.

Kind Regards

Nicole
