"Test results"

About: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre

(as the patient),

Today I arrived at the Beatson in Glasgow long before my appointment as usual, because I always anticipate having trouble getting parked. I arrived to see cars parked on pavements and a stressful frenzy as cancer patients and their families struggled to find a place to park. It is hard enough having cancer and it would be really nice to not be stressed over parking as well as a terrible illness.

Now, I get to reception for my appointment and am told to go get some tea as they're running behind. So I come back and still waiting over an hour later. I realise sometimes these things happen, but it's becoming a regular occurrence and waiting for test results has become a slow tortuous ordeal. I'd really appreciate if I could get test results electronically, have my questions ready and be in and out as fast as possible. If all patients got results electronically, maybe this would save some time and nerves. I always want test results and I feel like a burden for wanting them. Please, can the Beatson have a patient portal for test results?

Thanks for your time.

Dear Violetms77

Thank you for sharing your feedback on Care Opinion. Firstly, I would like to apologise for the parking difficulties you experienced when attending the Beatson and secondly for the delay with your appointment and for the additional stress and worry this causes.

If you have issues with parking please contact a Car Parking Attendant (identifiable in high visibility jackets) and they will find a bay or make an individual arrangement for you to get to your appointment.

Thank you for your suggestion regarding the electronic test results and this will be shared with the staff. If you would like to discuss this further can you please contact Margaret Gray who is the Clinical Service Manager for the Beatson. You can either email Margaret.Gray2@ggc.scot.nhs.uk or telephone 0141 301 7078.

Take Care

Elaine
