Anything else?
On arriving on ward 23 for surgery on 11th April 2013 at 07.15 i was shown to a bay with NO bed where i waited for consultation from the surgeon and aneathetist,i was told i was last on list, fair enough but being extremly nervous i was never at one point asked by nursing staff if i was o.k,no one checks on you,all the staff do were talk to each other and drink tea,the qualified nurse being the worse. Being an ex nurse i can certainly see where No nursing care or compassion comes into alot of complaints at hospital stays.
Following my surgery i was in Theatre Recovery for almost 4 hours due to the staff on ward 22 refusing to respond to recovery staff stating i was ready to go to ward! After numerous calls to the ward Theatre Recovery Staff had to contact the duty manager to get things moving as i was still on a trolley following abdominal surgery which is not good for pressure area care. Finally i arrive on ward 22 and the night staff were very good, but come the day shift well,if one nurse done less moaning and more seeing to patients hospitals would not get bad names. All in all i decided after just one night and being advised to stay another day i had to say no and get home to recover. I have never experienced anything like my ordeal and will certainly not go back to LGH on choice. Staff attitudes at this hospital need urgent attention!
