"Long wait for gallbladder treatment"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

Years ago I had kidney infection. I was left for 3 years in agony and every time I went back nothing was done, until a nurse suggested a few tests. The results came back I had pyelonephritis. After this I was in so much pain I was put on strong pain killers, which I have been on for 13 years.

Last January I was in agony.  I was sick, hot, cold and 3 times I phoned but did not see a doctor. On the 4th time I was shivering and couldn't breath.  I eventually got to see a paramedic who said I had an infected gallbladder and was near septic. I was in my bed for 3 days being sick .

I've had infection upon infection since last January and was told I would get my gallbladder out in January this year. It is now April and I'm still waiting.

I'm disgusted with the system - it has been 16 years and I wasn't even diagnosed properly.

I've fought and fought to get this operation and have still not had it done.

Do I need to collapse before I get it done?
