I am a disabled, 31 year old male that has many complex medical needs and I have to say, the Grange group practice has been amazing since I joined them.
My old gp in Halifax was terrible, I was missing days without my meds due to my prescription not been done, I was not listened to about my needs and I was always just brushed aside if I had any issues.
Within 2 days of joining Grange group practice I was phoned by there pharmacist to go through all my meds and doses and he arranged for them to all go on monthly repeat for my ease. I have had no issues speaking to the receptionists who are great and very knowledgeable and understanding. the doctors ring me regularly to check on me and my bloods and explain if there is something wrong etc and make me feel at ease, welcomed and most importantly, listened too. I have been poorly a long time now and I am completely self caring in regards to everything I have going on so the doctor's always listen to me if I feel I have anything that isn't right with my health.
I have found that everytime I need any appointment it is done and sorted straightaway, any bloods I need are arranged and I am given a time and place to go for them, and on that note I have to say the princess roya blood team are amazing too. I have a central line (portacath) for tpn and iv access, and my peripheral veinous access is poor so the blood team listen to me when I tell them they won't be able to take it, instead, I bring my equipment and access my line myself and draw the bloods from that. They have even asked me to explain what it is and teach them a little about it which is nice and makes me feel accepted.
As a last note I'd like to say to the whole team at Grange group practice, from receptionists all the way through to the doctor's, thank you, for making me feel like I am accepted, I am listened to, and I'm a person and not just a patient like I've had before. You are all brilliant and I really truly mean that.
"Amazing practice, and amazing staff"
