"Mental Health counselling"

About: Let's Talk Well Being Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

(as a service user),

I did a self-referral for Let's Talk counselling, as my mood was so low and I didn't know where to turn for help.  After the initial telephone consultation, I was offered face-to-face sessions each week, in my area.  The 1st session was difficult - I cried through all of it.  The counsellor was very calm, pleasant and sympathetic.  Over subsequent sessions, I cried less often and spoke quite a lot about various anxieties I had.

I stopped going because out of 10 sessions, I only actually saw my Counsellor for 5 of them - the other weeks, she was unavailable (school holidays?) and so in the end, I hadn't seen her for 3 weeks.  It was a shame, as we hadn't got to the stage of making a plan of how to deal with my worries and intrusive thoughts.  I'm now going to start CBT elsewhere.

Dear giftzm73,

Thank you for your honest feedback of our service and I am sorry to hear that you are now having to seek support elsewhere.

As a service we do not offer a set amount of sessions, this will depend on clinical presentation alone. But I appreciate that you had a gap in between sessions, due to staff absence, that has affected your recovery.

If you wished to reconsider and access either counselling or CBT again via Let's Talk Wellbeing, we would be happy to accept a referral and try our best to support you again.

Yours sincerely,

Selina Khunkhuna
