"Erme ward"

About: Derriford Hospital

My husband was there for two weeks after a brain bleed. Nurse's and doctors never kept me informed on what was happening. Never rang me back when I requested, still waiting for a call from the doctor to tell me he can come home and what I should expect, (he's been home a week and only told he can come home via husband, even though I asked doctor to ring and tell me discharge plan) husband told me to pick him up at 1pm, four hours later in discharge room waiting for meds when he was in pain, waiting to go home. First arrival on ward he was put with covid patients, nurses thought it was okay to pull a curtain around him to protect him. Can honestly say as a relative of a patient, was the worse experience I've ever had with a hospital, and I've dealt with most in Devon, I understand covid and short staffed and I tried to be patient, however, they put enormous stress on me and his other relatives, in a time we needed reassuring.

I'm sorry to hear your views on your husbands stay with us. We pride ourselves on good infection control and would like to look into this case further. In order to investigate this and your complaints about communication properly could you please contact the PALS office with his details.

Many thanks
