"The staff can't do enough for you"

About: Dame Carol Detoxification Service

(as a service user),

I was very anxious before I arrived at the unit but I was made to feel relaxed, quickly on my arrival. The one thing I did find alarming was the no smoking policy but I was allowed to vape in the garden and offered patches and other aids to help. After my first worries about this I did find that I got used to it, very quickly and was not to bothered about it in the end.

I found the rooms and general surroundings very clean and the on suit shower and toilet were great. The staff can't do enough for you. If you are struggling or in discomfort they will do their upmost to help and nothing is to much. The food is ok but could do with more variety, too many times it was just sandwiches for lunch. Overall I would tell anyone any who is offered the chance to be admitted to take the opportunity and don't waste it.

Hello Dieseldog;

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us feedback with regards to your treatment journey with us.

It's completely normal to feel anxious when you first arrive at the centre. It's a brand new environment for you and it can be scary understandably, but I'm so glad to hear the team made you feel comfortable and settled. We are a very welcoming bunch and are always happy to hear we made a positive impact, so thank you very much!!

We are a non-smoking unit but as you mentioned, we do provide nicotine replacement therapy and I'm so glad this worked for you during your stay.

The team endeavour to always ensure your stay here is as comfortable as it can be, so it's really nice to hear you had such a positive experience regarding the cleanliness of the unit and your en-suite room.

I'm sorry to hear your experience regarding the food wasn't great. We do have a two weekly rotation of prepared meals but I shall definitely pass this feedback on as we want to make everyone's stay with us as positive as possible.

We're really thankful for your feedback and are so very pleased you had such a positive experience within the DCDS unit.

I shall pass on your kind words to the team and we wish you all the best for the future.

Amberley Orchard - DCDS Bed Manager.
