"Waiting time for X-ray"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Xrays & Scans

(as a service user),

I attended Maxiofacial almost a year after being referred on several occasions by my dentist, they require a CT scan before they can treat further I was assured this would happen at FVR by the doctor yet I was offered an appointment elsewhere which I had to refuse.  I have tried contacting radiology to get an idea when my appointment will be as I have to let the doctor know once it has been done. The answer machine says leave your name and number and we will get back to you at the end it says don't leave a message.  I have waited so long for this treatment and it is causing me such distress and all that's holding it up is a CT scan.

Hi tauruszb58

I am sorry you have had such difficulties contacting the Radiology Department. The message on the answering machine states “if you are calling after 5pm on a Friday could you please call again on the following Monday after 9am”. This is due to the high volumes of messages received over the weekend when the phone is unmanned.

Currently we have a large waiting list for CT scans but if you would like to send me your details on susan.mcmillan2@nhs.scot then I can look into your referral and let you know when an appointment will be likely to be given to you.

Susan McMillan

Deputy Radiology Department Manager
