The doctor was kind, caring and respectful .
My elderly mum was poorly and becoming agitated whilst receiving comfort care in her care home.
She needed sedation to help her settle to sleep.
Nurse Ashleigh was happy to call the GP out of hours service as no medicine was prescribed or organised for my mum.
Dr Kennedy introduced herself, examined my mum with sensitivity and spoke to me privately in another room explaining mum’s condition and updating me on her plan of care.
Dr Kennedy gave me time to clarify information and answered my questions.
She also explained that if we had any further concerns, she could be back within the hour.
Dr Kennedy explained that palliative care is a big part of her job and I felt she really strived to give compassionate and sensitive ,individualised care, despite how busy she might otherwise be.
I really appreciate everything she and the nurse Ashleigh did for my mum last night.
My mum died peacefully this evening and I feel relieved that her last hours were treated with such respect and diligence.
"We were treated with such respect and diligence"
