"12 weeks day referral"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Radiotherapy Roxburghe House

(as the patient),

On arrival i was met by one of the the staff and was instantly made so very welcome almost if we knew each other, i was introduced to Carole and Lee and taken through to the main hall for my 3 hours, they made sure i was comfortable and had refreshments, over the 12 weeks with different activities which included, Physiotherapy, reflexology, meditation, talks from health professionals, which were very informative and helpful and i was able to ask questions about my condition, there was also two artists there who were very encouraging  and enthusiastic about getting me started on painting and art projects Donna and Neil, i eventually created a self portrait in the style of Andy Warhol its something im proud of, though not a masterpiece i am going to carry on with my art work at home as a new hobby, im so grateful in being able to learn new skills, there is also a writer there who is helping me with my life story, its something that i feel i need to do now after going through cancer and coming out the other side all clear, though there are side effects after 2 bouts of chemotherapy and 30 sessions of Radiotherapy, I'm so glad to be alive thanks to the wonderful staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (all departments)

We sometimes take the NHS for granted in this country, but i think all staff should be praised, i was in hospital during covid and i felt safe in secure all the time i was there, my hat comes off to you all thank you. My 12 weeks at Roxburghe House is now sadly up, and i will miss everybody there, who i would all class as friends now, it was an emotional last day for me, and i had to hold back the tears as i left on the last day,I feel safe in the knowledge that somebody else will be coming to Roxburghe House and the will be made most welcome and they will be happy for their 12 weeks there. My journey through being diagnosed with cancer (throat, tongue and Lymph glands both side of my neck and an Aneurysm of the Spleen at Christmas 2020 until now April has been pretty tough at times, but the sheer professionalism and support from all involved in my care I am here to tell the tale, Thank You all.

Dear Raymers,

Thank-you so much for taking the time to give such lovely feedback about the Day Unit at Roxburghe House. I have passed your feedback on to the staff and they are delighted that they've made such a difference to you at what sounds like an extremely challenging time in your life. The team have worked very hard to reinstate the service since it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, therefore, it is especially pleasing for them to see the difference this is making to patients such as yourself. Thanks again for taking the time to post on Care Opinion; I wish you the very best for the future.
