My elderly mum was admitted to University Hospital Wishaw yesterday from Hospital at Home team Monklands. When arriving at A@E, the ambulance team booked mum in and she was taken through to the treatment area within 15 minutes. From there the nursing team all introduced themselves before doing various tests (while being so gentle and considerate to mum). The consultants were equally considerate and explained everything in detail while including mum. Mum was transferred to ward 8 in the late hours of last night. On checking in with the staff, mum had settled well and the staff were so kind and caring. Her treatment has commenced. Her updates have been detailed. The team in ward 8 have been caring not only in medical terms but in human terms. This has made a really stressful time for mum and the family easier. The family want to note and highlight the work Wishaw are doing under huge pressure. Grateful does not cover how we feel. Mum is 91 years with a huge life experience behind her and she deserves the best - Wishaw teams are providing the best. Thank you so much. Rhona and the extended family
