"Felt like a burden"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

Trip to A&E via ambulance. Was talking about discharge before actually reviewed. Not offered even a drink of water in nearly 5 hours of being there. Asked by a sister/matron if I could wait outside because they needed the bed! I felt like I was an inconvenience!

I am so sorry that this is how you were made to feel as this is not our usual standard of care. Whilst I do know that we have had some very pressured days with high volumes of acutely ill patients, this should not have impacted on you or your care and I would like to express my sincere apologies. I will make sure that your comments are fed back to the team so that they understand the impact that they have had on you.

Best wishes

Krishna Kallianpur
