On a routine scan, it was noted our baby was in the small side. This combined with my high blood pressure led to a stay in the triage ward.
The staff were lovely - midwives, doctors, domestics - I don’t think I ever saw the same person twice (except nightshift Chelsea - she was ace 😊).
For the next fortnight, despite doctors advising an early delivery, I was back & forth to the triage ward which was incredibly frustrating. I was grateful they were keeping a close eye on me, but there was a lack of communication between staff with a plan of what was to be happening.
Fast forward an unsuccessful induction & a c-section was booked. On the day of the surgery, it went like clockwork! Staff in triage, theatre & recovery were fantastic. The theatre staff in particular could tell I was apprehensive about the procedure & each of them, in their own way, helped to settle my nerves.
The midwives & staff in Summerfield ward were lovely too. I was only there for a short stay & again, didn’t see the same staff member twice. This didn’t matter as each of them were attentive & helpful. There was always someone to attend if needed.
My story is to thank the staff at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital ❤️
