Continuity of care. I am sick and tired of having to explain the same things over and over to different doctors. I feel that previous doctors have apparently even lied on my notes.
I take a medication that is used as far as I am aware both as a curative and prophylactic medication, which has negative side effects and no viable alternative.
I have been told it is perfectly acceptable to only use it as and when I feel I need it by one doctor, but now others have told me than if I'm not taking it every day despite the negative side effects then it is like I am not taking it.
This binary attitude to the medication seems reductive in the face of the fact I was told this was fine by other doctors. It now feels as if I have been labelled as a patient who doesn't take medication. I feel this is pigeon holing and insulting as I worry it may effect other future care decisions even though it is a misrepresentation. If I could actually see the same person every time this would not happen.
I am angry that when I called for the appointment, I specifically asked which doctor I would see, and was given the name of one I'd seen before. When I arrived I was told I'd see a different one, and it feels as if my dismay at this fact was simply dismissed.
I understand the reasons for the surgery style system, but I feel they are simply not in the best interests of patients in general, and especially patients like myself with specific personality type disorders (Asperger's autism).
Overall I understand that the seeing a different doctor every time system is unlikely to change. I would very much appreciate it if a discussion could be had amongst the respective practitioners to come to a consensus on whether me taking the medication as and when required is acceptable, given that it has always has the desired results.
I would also appreciate the removal of, in my opinion, the reductionist and insulting notes on my patient record.
