"District nurses changed my friends life"

About: Adult Community District Nursing Teams / Arches District Nursing Team

(as a friend),

I haven’t told my friend I’m leaving this but I know she won’t mind. My friend has had a hard time the last few years with a rare disease, it’s been hard seeing her have constant hospital admissions and the impact these take on her each time. I live in Dublin and hadn’t seen her for a few months, I couldn’t believe the difference in her since being at home with district nursing, She is starting to grow in confidence again and is much happier and content when she’s at home. She’s not been admitted to hospital in months as her skin is so well cared for at home. Orla and another nurse arrived while I was there and you can just see she trusts them completely. She chats so highly of all the nurses especially Orla, Geraldine and Catherine.

I just wanted to say thank you for the difference you are making to her life each day! It’s so lovely to see her get her spark back despite still facing a really challenging time.

Dear Aspencer,

Thankyou for taking the time to write this lovely compliment. It gives me great pride that Orla and her District Nursing Team have made such a positive impact on your friend, despite the ongoing challenges she faces with her medical condition. As District Nurses we take great pride at being able to keep people in their own home, preventing hospital admissions no matter for how long that may be.

It is heart-warming to read that Orla, Geraldine and Catherine in particular have been able to provide the necessary treatment and support which has contributed to her wellbeing. For you as a friend, it must be wonderful to visibly notice her joy, regaining her confidence and seeing her getting her ''spark'' back.

I will share your kind words to Orla, Geraldine,Catherine and the District Nursing Team. They are always grateful to receive compliments and reassurances that they are continuing to make a difference to their patients, families, friends and carers.

May I take this opportunity to wish you well and extend my best wishes to your friend in the ongoing challenges she is experiencing.

Kind Regards

Deborah McLaughlin
