"I was a patient in A&E and ..."

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was a patient in A&E and the McGill Unit from 21/22 June 2008. I could not fault the level of care and attention I received in the tests/monitoring that were promptly conducted to make a decision on my diagnosis and treatment. Time was taken to explain what was happening, despite staff being busy and the lateness of the hour ! In particular everyone was kind and very professional, and the atmosphere in both units seemed cooperative and happy. I felt real confidence in everyone who dealt with me and my worried husband, and I would be grateful if my comments and thanks can be passed on to the staff concerned. Fran (Christine) Oates.

What could be improved

For visitors, espeically in an emergency, the parking system requiring change to pay when you park is a real issue. A pay as you leave system would and cater to users' needs better and relieve a lot of unnecessary stress. In addition the cash machine was not in use when we needed it.
