My almost 91 year old mum admitted from her home to University Hospital Hairmyres. After a few hours in a hectic A&E she was transferred to ward 4 overnight and then to ward 15 for care. She was there 16 days and tested positive for covid the night before transfer to a care home, as we sadly couldn’t give give the care required at home any longer. She was transferred to ward 3 for a couple of days then onto ward 6 covid ward. Once out, her isolation in the care home was closed due to Covid issues, so she was transferred to Stonehouse Hospital for 18 days before eventually transferring to the care home. The care and support given to mum was fabulous and under Johns Campaign, I was able to visit and feed mum. The wards are struggling with high volume of patients and staff off sick yet they all took time to speak with me and ensure mum had what she required. I am proud to be a mum of an NHS nurse and see first hand what her and her colleagues do on a daily basis. They work so hard and do their very best to ensure patients and families are supported.
