"DSU procedure"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I attended the DSU yesterday for surgery to my hand. I would like to commend the whole team for the excellent care that I received.

A friendly welcome at the door.

Every member of staff introduced themselves.

Everything was explained thoroughly.

Very smooth and efficient journey through theatre, recovery and discharge.

Nursing staff friendly, organised and thorough.

Anaesthetist listened to my story and decided on most appropriate anaesthetic.

Surgeon who I had never met was thorough in her explanation of procedure , what to expect and post op plan. Introducing me to the virtual hand therapy portal and encouraged me to get in touch any time for advice.

Anaesthetic staff very reassuring.

Recovery staff very quick and responsive to deal with post op analgesia requirement.

Thorough discharge instructions.

Department was clean fresh and airy - all be it a little chilly - minor issue.

Receptionist carried my bag out to my husband on discharge.

Well done everyone.
