"Diagnosed with pneumonia"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / General Medicine University Hospital Hairmyres / Radiology

(as a service user),

Recovering from pulmonary endarterectomy surgery some 7 months previously, I experienced massive right side pains. Being the weekend, I put up with it for two days, but local out of hours services recommended I attend A&E because of a raised temperature and my previous history.  I was taken in to Hairmyres, treated promptly with x ray that diagnosed pneumonia. This was a total surprise, and I spent five nights under the expert care of nurses and doctors in wards 11 and 4.  Thank you Laura in ward 4 for my discharge and everyone for making my stay as comfortable as possible.  As indicated, I didn't think I was particularly ill, but my admission was absolutely right given the seriousness of the disease.

Dear Adopted Scot

Many thanks for sharing your journey whilst an inpatient within University Hospital Hairmyres on Care Opinion.

I am delighted your treatment and care was positive. Staff work so very hard to maintain high standards of Person Centred Care to all patients. This must have been a worrying time for you.

It will be my pleasure to share your feedback with all staff involved in your care in ward 4 especially Laura who will be delighted and encouraged.

I wish you a speedy recovery and all the best for the future.

Best wishes

Jean
