"Greater efficiency needed"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Elective Overnight Stay Centre/Gynaecology Ward (Level 3 South) Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as the patient),

After suffering from a fall, I was brought via ambulance to Daisy Hill Hospital. However, A&E was very busy and I had to spend the night in five different ambulances and slept in one, which wasn't the best situation. However, the ambulance crew were all dead on.

Up on the Female Surgical Ward it has been absolutely fine. The staff have all been excellent.

However, I have found that an awful lot of things are very slow in getting done. In my opinion more efficiency is needed. For instance, the last time I was here I waited five hours just to get a prescription. Things like this need to be improved.

Dear neptunexw73

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. I am sincerely sorry to hear about the delay in your hand over to the hospital clinical team, please be assured that we are working with local EDs to try to make this process more efficient. It was however reassuring to hear that the NIAS staff were dead on. I wish you the best with your recovery.

Best wishes

Neil

Dear neptunexw73,

Thank you for taking time to post feedback on Care Opinion. Feedback like this is great to share with Female Surgical staff especially when the hospital has been incredible busy recently. We are aware that at times there can be delays with getting prescriptions written by our medical team and dispensed. We are reviewing our processes to expedite this and are working with the Red Cross who can deliver prescriptions to patient’s homes after they are discharged which will have a positive effect on waiting times experienced by our patients both in ED and our wards.

Kind Regards

Josie
