My husband has had leukaemia for 7 years and requires regular blood tests prior to his 3 monthly hospital appointment (currently merely a phone call due to COVID) to be able to get the medication he needs to keep him alive.
The labs need time to process this and an appointment arranged when the blood results are available.
This week he was trying to organise said hospital appointment having had his blood tests done but was met with a very aggressive response from the receptionist.
My husband was told he was unable to get the date of appointment he needed and was offered another which would mean no results were available and no meds could be given, effectively making the appointment useless.
When my husband pointed this out to the receptionist , the receptionist then pointed out how busy they are.
My husband was left feeling like he'd been a nuisance . Does this receptionist not realise how the department operates or how very ill the patients who attend that ward are?
I work on a very busy ward in a hospital and would never dream of speaking to someone in this way.
