"Amazing care and attention for my mum"

About: Victoria Hospital / Colorectal Unit

(as a relative),

My Mum was admitted to Victoria hospital last week after suffering severe stomach pains.

After being referred for a CT Scan we were informed she would need emergency major surgery to remove a tumour that had caused a hole in her bowel. I am an only child and my Mum is my world so needless to say I was terrified by the entire thing.

Mr Robertson the surgeon was amazing from the start keeping my mum and myself informed every step of the way. He is one amazing man who clearly is very good at his job. My mum spent time in surgical high dependency where she was very well cared for by Lauren and Julie and the excellent consultant Ben and Doctor (Philip?) so when we were told she would be moving to ward 44 we were a little apprehensive.

We had no reason to worry the staff were amazing Chloe Ashley Elaine Joseph the Auxiliaries Jacqueline and Susan and in particular Dawn Dora and Elka who were with my Mum the most and gave her the most amazing care and attention. I cant thank you all enough. It is very clear how much you all love your work.

The pain team Steph, Cheryl and Ashley, Wendy the lead colorectal nurse specialist, Carol the physio and the domestics who again  were very friendly and happy in their work. Thank you all.

Good evening NicD,

Thank you for taking the time to post such positive feedback following your experience with us in ward 44. It is always reassuring to hear that not only a patients journey has been so positive but also that of their family.

I will ensure I share your feedback with the staff mentioned and the team as a whole who will be delighted with your lovely comments.

I would like to wish your Mum all the best with her continued recovery.

Kind Regards

Jen
