"Inpatient stay for my son"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Victoria Hospital / Acute Medical Ward

(as a service user),

As a mother of a 31 yr old son with mild learning difficulties , trying to get information from staff in ED was terrible.

Once we were transferred to ward 7b the care could not have been better and the staff have been wonderful. Felt genuinely cared for and my son put at ease.

Kept informed at all times and staff couldn’t do enough to help us both. Has really boosted my opinion of the NHS after a difficult start in ED

Dear Fmcgr21,

My name is Linsey Sheerin, I am the Service Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion, I am sorry to read of the communication difficulties you experienced with staff in the department. If you would like to discuss this further with me please email me linsey.sheerin@belfasttrust.hscni.net and I can arrange a call.

I am heartened to read that this experience was not replicated on the ward. I sincerely hope your son is currently well and making progress in his recovery.

Best Wishes

Linsey
