First chemo appt today at ward 308. I had a very person centered experience. I had already had a really full and well explained induction from one of the Nurse Practictioner (on ward 310) a few days before so I felt very reassured about coming into the ward. I got Charlotte as the nurse looking after me for the day. She and all her colleagues never stopped moving the entire time I was there (and due to when I got my infusion I was there most of the day) but none of the patients felt that they didn't have her entire attention. She explained everything, helped me try the cold cap (I gave up) and was so nice when I decided not to bother. I feel I have a full understanding of what happened and I feel very confident about the whole process. BTW, the cleaner that you have in that ward is a wee ray of sunshine. See you next week!
