What I liked
Admitted on Sunday June 25 (Ward 10) for IV and oral antibiotics to treat cellulitis infection in right leg. Ward full but very clean. Cheerful staff. Two elderly ladies in ward - one upset that men were present! Meals were good. Medical teams excellent. Walking to toilet increasingly painful but night staff did not suggest use of urine flask by bed as was done when I later stayed overnight in Ward 20 - after 2 nights in Ward 22! Hospital seemed extremely busy so understood why patients shifted around a lot.
What could be improved
Eventually ended up for final 2/3 nights in Ward 22 again which had been reopened with night agency staff. Made 2 friends here but felt very sorry for staff at the behaviour of a loud obnoxious patient, who made a great deal of noise and nuisance of himself during the night. His care home manager came and told him off next day but difficult to know what the staff could do with people like this. Discharged after 8 days. Glad to be home but did enjoy the experience and appreciated the NHS - which I owe my life to anyway.
Best wishes
Geoff
